Allen Mandelbaum is the author of several books of poetry, including Chelmaxioms and The Savantasse of Montparnasse. He has translated The Aeneid of Virgil, The Odyssey of Homer, The Metamorphoses of Ovid, and The Selected Poems of Giuseppe Ungaretti. His translation of the Dantešs Divine Comedy is one of those featured on Digital Dante. He is currently Professor Emeritus, William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of the Humanities at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.
